Apple iPad will become a failure, sooner or later…
It surprises (positive and negative) a lot of people when Steve Jobs introduced the recently leaked and rumored iPad from Apple. While it seems cool to have the latest invention from Apple, but personally I do feel that iPad is somehow a failed product. Why? For me, it’s nothing more than an enlarged iphone (no Mac OSX on it…duh…), flash-unsupported browser (HTML5? Steve Jobs, it might be too early for that), and limited customization (apple always love to control people huh?). While the announced might not be the final product, but more or less it won’t be much different from what they have announced. And what? iPad is a registered name for Fujitsu?
How to run Android in HTC Touch Diamond?
If you are PDA-phone fan, most likely you know the Google’s open source mobile operating system – Android. With the recent released Google Nexus One, Android operating system has become more popular in smartphone and it is expected to be more devices supporting Android, although it going to take some time (but it won’t be too long since Android is open source and free) if Android wanted to take Windows Mobile down.
I have a HTC Touch Diamond which still running it’s stock rom at Windows Mobile 6.1 although the wide variety of WinMo 6.5 available in XDA-Developer forum. You might wonder why I did not update the phone; I simply disappointed with Windows Mobile. Many of my friends agreed with me that Windows Mobile device doesn’t deliver what it has promised. And time for customizing and fixing problem(s) probably more than the practical usage of the device. Did I mentioned that the manufacturer of the smartphone will abandon a 1 year-old phone without letting them upgrade to the latest Windows Mobile, even with a chargeable cost? (Like my HTC Touch Diamond) Of course you can use the device without installing anything and run it in default available settings, but soon you will find that there are a lot of inadequacy in Windows Mobile. Heck, who is going to have a Windows Mobile device without installing some cool apps and games?
Missed Windows 3.1? Run it in your browser now!
You might heard of Windows 3.1 if you looking for the history of Microsoft Operating System, but have you ever used it before? With the long period of domination of Windows 98 and Windows XP, I doubt that recent user will ever have chance to run Windows 3.1 on your computer. But if you interested to know how the Windows 3.1 looks like, now you can.
An online, browser-based Windows 3.1 is up and running at Michaelv.org. It isn’t a full Windows 3.1 of course, but it still resemble the whole Windows 3.1 UI and feeling (Minesweeper is there!). As quoted from his site:
The goal of this site is not to create an entirely complete mirror image of Windows 3.1, but rather keep the spirit and omit features when they are not justified by an effort to usability ratio. For example, Notepad lacks a find and replace feature because it is not worth the effort. Where features do exist, every effort is made to present them in exactly the manner that they existed in Windows 3.1.
If you are interested to try it, just run this browser-based Windows 3.1 in your browser. Firefox 2 and 3, as well as IE 6, 7, 8 are supported.

Review on Nokia X6-00 Comes With Music Edition

On the Thursday evening, I was lucky enough to attend a Nokia Music Explorers event held in Royale Bintang Damansara (All thanks to Nokia and TXT100). Basically it is an event all about the yet-to-release Nokia music service, and of course, the yet-to-release Nokia X6-00 (00 means not yet finalised if not mistaken). 50 of the lucky music lovers (me included XD) have been given a brand new Nokia X6 device and one year subscription of Comes With Music service, which is a service that allows you to download unlimited (yes, you doesn’t read it wrong) songs off their Ovi Player LEGALLY, and before you ask, yes, the service does include latest songs and albums (still updating though).
The event went pretty smooth, despite of some ‘epic fail’ moments (not going to tell you what, but something to do with Lenovo). You can almost expect everyone is only waiting for the arrival of their Nokia X6; and I believe all will be agree with me that the most exciting part in the event certainly is the unboxing moment.
